⒈ 一种宋、元时期流行于我国南方的戏曲。是中国戏曲最早的成熟形式，直接影响明代传奇。因起源于浙江温州，故也称为「永嘉杂剧」、「温州杂剧」。当地称为「戏文」。所用的音乐主要是南曲。南戏的早期作品传世很少，直到元代末期，始有一些艺术成就较高的作品出现，如《琵琶记》，及四大传奇的《荆钗记》、《白兔记》、《拜月记》、《杀狗记》等流传至今。
